We report the first confirmed case of Buffalopox from Malappuram, Kerala, India during October 2022. The case was presented with fever, lesions on neck, trunk, limbs, and genitalia. The histopathology of lesions suggested a viral aetiology. Complete genome sequences obtained from lesions showed similarity of 99.90-99.93% with Indian BPXV sequences of 2011, 2014. The active surveillance of mpox in India has helped in detection of Orthopoxviruses. This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved.
