Elevated uric acid levels before 24 weeks of gestation is associated with subsequent GDM, the best time to test for uric acid is before 18 weeks of gestation. Pregnant with low and intermediate risk for GDM development, may be benefited more from serum uric acid measurements before 18 weeks of gestation.
