POEMS syndrome is a rare plasma cell disorder, which has been increasingly recognized. A recent nationwide survey conducted in Japan in 2015 reported a prevalence of 0.3 per 100,000 [2]. This disorder has been incorporated into the spectrum of monoclonal gammopathy of clinical significance with a characterized small plasma cell clone [3], rather than "...could be Waldenstrom disease or other B-cell lymphomas".
