Among survivors of AIS hospitalization, certain sociodemographic indicators, stroke-specific features, and several key comorbid conditions were associated with increased risk of readmissions, which in turn correlated with increased mortality. Therefore, lifestyle modification and optimal treatment of comorbidities are likely to improve the outcome after AIS.
