It is fundamental to understand the risk associated with DDIs to manage better the addition of a concomitant hyperlipidemic drug to a statin-treated patient. Many health agencies have published specific guidelines for assessing DDIs, but these mainly apply to in vitro studies. New predictive approaches are being proposed and may help evaluate and manage DDIs.
