N-benzyl-6-methylpicolinamides were discovered as a novel scaffold for bleaching herbicides. The accumulation of phytoene, phytofluene, and ζ-Carotene in radish cotyledons and cross-resistance were observed with diflufenican showed that title compounds can interfere with carotenoid biosynthesis.
