Ru(PPh 3 ) 3 Cl 2 reacts with Bi n n - from an ethylenediamine (en) solution of K 5 Bi 4 to yield a new architype of 13-vertex [Bi 10 {RuPPh 3 } 3 ] - ( 1 ) composed of unprecedented incomplete cuboidal Bi 7 3- and triangular Bi 3 3- held together by {RuPPh 3 } 2+ .
