In the title compound [systematic name: 5-methyl-1,3-bis-(2-oxoprop-yl)pyrimidine-2,4(1 H ,3 H )-dione], C 11 H 14 N 2 O 4 , the two 2-oxopropyl groups are nearly perpendicular to the planar thymine unit. One methyl group of oxopropyl substituent is disordered. In the crystal, C-H⋯O inter-actions help to connect the mol-ecules into (001) layers.
