In amyoplasia, the gracilis muscle may be absent or have fatty infiltration, making this donor muscle inadequate. Preoperative ultrasound to determine the presence of the gracilis is noninvasive and recommended in patients with amyoplasia of the upper extremity being considered for FFMT.
