What acute cardiac care physicians need to know from the latest 2022 ESC Guidelines for Ventricular Tachycardia and Sudden Cardiac Death.

The present paper summarizes and comments on the latest 2022 ESC guidelines on ventricular tachycardia and sudden cardiac death. Most relevant recommendations for acute cardiovascular care physicians are addressed, particularly, in the fields of coronary artery disease, dilated cardiomyopathy and inflammatory diseases. New recommendations encompass the implantation of a defibrillator (ICD) in the setting of an acute myocarditis. Furthermore, the pathophysiology of electrical storm including involved molecular pathways as well as the angry Purkinje fiber syndrome are presented and discussed.
