Exposure to microbubbles of air during various treatments such as hemodialysis may result in microemboli. Future studies should clarify whether microbubbles of air contribute to tissue scarring. We suggest preventive measures against the exposure to microbubbles of air during especially repeated exposures such as hemodialysis.
