The top-down lignomics analysis of the French pine VRLs using APPI-QqTOF-MS and low energy CID-MS/MS allowed us to identify acetylated eugenol and a novel series of fourteen LCCs. These series of LCCs provide evidence that lignins are covalently linked to carbohydrates in the native wood network and act as cross-linkers between cellulose and hemicellulose components of wood.
