Statistically significant differences for alveolar ridge mucosa thickness were found at several sites in the maxilla and between anterior and posterior sextants for lingual and crestal sites in the maxillary and mandibular arches. Tissue thickness differences were also noted for race with black individuals showing greater tissue thickness at some sites. Age and gender did not show a clear effect on tissue thickness. Recorded differences in tissue thickness were however small and appear of uncertain clinical significance. This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved.
