The study highlights a concerning prevalence of colistin resistance among Enterobacterales, especially those producing carbapenemase, thereby impacting mortality rates. Nonetheless, further investigations are warranted to elucidate common mechanisms of colistin resistance and to evaluate the efficacy of screening techniques in detecting isolates carrying mcr genes responsible for enzyme-mediated lipopolysaccharide (LPS) modification.
