The presence of a metal intracoronary stent near the ablation device during PEF ablation simply 'amplifies' the E-field distortion already caused by the presence of the vessel. This distortion may involve moderate heating (<48 °C) in the tissue between the artery and ablation electrode without associated thermal damage.
