Characteristics and surgical outcomes of patients with atraumatic splenic rupture.

Male sex, previous splenic infarctions, haematological malignancies, lung cancer spleen metastases, underlying cardiovascular disease and diabetes mellitus may increase the risk for ASR. Further prospective controlled studies are needed to confirm our results.
