gene, which was previously described as encoding Rubisco methyltransferase. RMT2 appears to be critical for PSI accumulation/biogenesis and is enriched in the pyrenoid, a chloroplast localized compartment harboring much of the Chlamydomonas Rubisco, suggesting a potential role for this compartment in the biogenesis of photosynthetic complexes.
