The discovery of protein biomarkers in pre-eclampsia: the promising role of mass spectrometry.

MS-based proteomics studies are promising alternatives to classical hypothesis-driven approaches to discover novel biomarkers and provide new insights into the underlying phathophysiological mechanisms of PE. This should aid in the early diagnosis of PE and the understanding of the aetiology of the disease.
