Areas where changes could lead to improved safety practices could include: a trained person dedicated to monitor anaesthesia, pain scoring evaluation in patients recovering from anaesthesia, an increased use of standardised handover checklists, record keeping and an increase in open discussion of adverse events by the veterinary team.
