IRS-1Gly972Arg genetic variant does not increase the risk of PCOS in Kashmiri women. However, this polymorphism is associated with clinical manifestations of insulin resistance, obesity and hyperandrogenism, suggesting its possible role in variable phenotypic manifestations of PCOS.
