Brain abscess due to oral cavity bacteria often occurred in previously healthy individuals without predisposing dental infections. Important risk factors for unfavorable outcome were rupture and immuno-compromise. However, outcome was not associated with specific antibiotic regimens supporting carbapenem-sparing strategies.
