Neonatal invasive candidiasis (NIC) presents high morbi-mortality. The diagnosis of NIC is often challenging. Blood cultures have limitations and better diagnostic tools are needed. Beta-D-glucan is a diagnostic marker which could be potentially used, although still more clinical data are required.
