Hyperlipidemia results in delayed bone regeneration in large closed bone defects. Although tooth extraction wounds are small and normally regenerated in a hyperlipidemic microenvironment, the prominent reduction in the alveolar ridge height is also a challenge for future restoration of the dentition.
