. This study reveals a putative role for the longest stretch of invariable sequence among TcdB subtypes and provides new details regarding toxin release into the extracellular environment. Improving our understanding of the functional roles of the conserved regions of TcdB variants aids in the development of new, broadly applicable strategies to treat CDI.
