Duration of Antibiotic Prophylaxis for Ballistic Fractures to the Extremities.

Across all analyses in the present study, there was not a single correlation between antibiotic prophylaxis duration for ≥48 hours and lower rates of subsequent infection. For patients with ballistic fractures to the extremities, prophylactic antibiotic administration for ≥48 hours is unwarranted.
