Maximal voluntary isometric contraction testing and 6MWT are suitable outcomes for use in ambulatory adults with SMA. Maximal voluntary isometric contraction testing may be preferable because of superior test-retest reliability and closer associations with other outcomes and biomarkers of neuromuscular function.
