Increases in SE-Bic with haemodialysis, depend on the bicarbonate gradient, session time and nPNA. Lower D-Bic reduces post-haemodialysis alkalosis but increases pre-haemodialysis acidosis and may initially have adverse effects on weight and normalised protein nitrogen accumulation.
