The mediating role of quality of life on depression and medication adherence among patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus: A cross-sectional study.

Depression, medication adherence, and quality of life were higher among older adults with T2DM. Depression was also found to have a strong negative association with both medication adherence and quality of life. Interventions to screen for depression and to improve the quality of life in patients living with diabetes are also recommended and this should go beyond the provision of standard treatments to explore further the mechanisms of this relationships.
