Factors influencing access to psychiatric care among persons with psychosis living in a rural community in south India.

The reason for individuals with psychosis and their family members not accessing psychiatric treatment was invariably multifactorial, involving, on average, 10 factors. Programmes that target the reduction of the treatment gap should be cognizant of the multifactorial nature of the challenge of reaching psychiatric treatment for persons with psychoses.
