A mesoporous metal-organic framework (MOF) named NU-1000 has received considerable attention in various fields owing to its outstanding stability and large pore size. In this study, NU-1000 particles with different sizes were prepared by varying the kinds of solvents. Attributed to the excellent biocompatibility and large pore volume, about 35 wt % of doxorubicin hydrochloride (DOX) were loaded into the resultant nanoscale NU-1000, and a long-time release behavior for over 2 weeks was realized. The in vivo investigation has shown the advantage of NU-1000 in carrying drugs for chemotherapy attributed to its excellent antitumor efficacy.
