Phase II study of a new multidisciplinary therapy using once every 3 week carboplatin plus dose-dense weekly paclitaxel before and after radical hysterectomy for locally advanced cervical cancer.

Replacement the platinum agent resulted in equivalent efficacy, with reduced toxicity, in women with locally advanced cervical cancer. This strategy could considerably diminish the application of radiation therapy without reduced survival. A study to identify those patients who will benefit from this new multidisciplinary strategy is warranted.
