Both US and MRI are adequate at determining the presence of a high-grade laceration. Magnetic resonance imaging was more specific than US in identification of high-grade partial flexor tendon lacerations. Although less specific, US is a reasonable and less-expensive alternative to MRI when evaluating for clinically significant high-grade partial flexor tendon lacerations.
