Cochlear implant surgery facilitates intracochlear distribution of perioperative systemic steroids.

This study demonstrates that the inner ear distribution of systemically administered steroids is enhanced following surgery for cochlear implantation and provides rationale for systemic perioperative steroids in hearing preservation surgery.
