Thirty-six percent of volleyball players had ≥ 2 surrogate markers of LEA.The Cunningham 1991 predictive RMR equation and/or the cut-off point (<0.9) may be unsuitable for detecting energy conservation associated with LEA in large male athletes.There was no association between total-TES and risk of bone stress injury, illness and patellar tendinopathy.
