Surgical hematoma evacuation of cortical intracerebral hemorrhage ≥10 ml reduces risk of subsequent epilepsy by more than 70%: A retrospective monocenter study.

Post-ICH epilepsy is frequent and predicted by large cortical ICH and acute symptomatic seizures. Hematoma evacuation reduced the risk of PICHE by more than 70% in patients with large cortical ICH. This finding could be considered in the clinical decision making on the acute treatment of ICH.
