In patients with diabetic kidney disease characterized by nephrotic range proteinuria, histopathological damage (glomerular alterations, interstitial fibrosis and tubular atrophy (IFTA), interstitial inflammation, and arteriolar hyalinosis) is not associated with poor renal outcomes, but hemoglobin and e-GFR could predict poor renal outcomes.
