We validated the strategy of withdrawal antimicrobial therapy in children with FN and viral respiratory tract infection based on clinical and microbiological/molecular diagnostic criteria. This will enable advances in antimicrobial stewardship strategies with a possible future impact on antimicrobial resistance.
