Relationship Between Unit Characteristics and Fall Incidence: A Cross-Sectional Survey Using Administrative Data in Japan.

The results of this study are expected to assist nurses to predict falls based on unit characteristics; reducing nursing time in the units was found to be a factor associated with higher fall risk. Nurse managers must understand the unit-related fall risk factors, appropriately assign nurse staffing numbers, and demonstrate nursing leadership to prevent falls in their units.
