Given the findings from this study, health care professionals should monitor symptoms of catastrophizing among current and retired NFL athletes. Assessment and requisite treatment of pain catastrophizing may assist these elite athletes in reducing depressive symptoms, while improving pain interference and HRQoL in this population.
