The title mol-ecule, C 12 H 15 NO 5 , is a methyl carbamate derivative obtained by reacting ( R )-2-phenyl-glycinol and methyl chloro-formate, with calcium hydroxide as heterogeneous catalyst. Supra-molecular chains are formed in the [100] direction, based on N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds between the amide and carboxyl-ate groups. These chains weakly inter-act in the crystal, and the phenyl rings do not display significant π-π inter-actions.
