The posterior wall of the maxillary sinus serves as an adjunctive intraoperative landmark to determine the depth of the sphenoid sinus ostium. While the posterior wall of the maxillary sinus approximates the depth of the sphenoid sinus ostium, the relative position is variable and can be anterior or posterior.
