When diagnosing a severe and potentially fatal congenital cardiac anomaly, counseling by MFMs was largely unaffected by personal beliefs regarding termination of pregnancy. While this is consistent with previously published data on counseling practices among pediatric cardiology specialists, some important differences between the specialties were seen.
