In resource-constrained government-run hospitals, a functional, safe cardiac surgery unit can be set up by implementing well-planned strategies to mitigate encountered peculiar challenges. Furthermore, with properly harnessed foreign missions, a prior-trained local team of personnel can achieve independence and become a self-sustaining cardiac surgery unit within the shortest possible time.
