Three features of tuberculosis on abdominal ultrasound independently predicted tuberculosis with moderate diagnostic performance in seriously ill HIV-positive inpatients. Abdominal ultrasound was more sensitive but less specific than chest radiograph for diagnosing tuberculosis in this patient population.
