In this perspective article, we stressed the problem involving the continuous shortage of specialized professionals capable of addressing complex basic sciences questions, while maintaining clinical relevance. Here we present a different perspective regarding the early engagement of young students to clinical sciences by teaming up with high schools across the United States, and to energize the debate on our current shortage of clinician-scientists.
