APAs can be accurately distinguished from other polypoid tumors of the uterus with the use of 3-DPDS demonstrating the following characteristics: lobular tumor with inhomogeneous echotexture, echogenicity similar to myometrium, broad base, acoustic shadow and linear vessel arrangement.
