Highlight After treatment of walled-off necrosis, a pigtail plastic stent was placed in the fistula to prevent recurrence. Two years later, barium used in routine upper gastrointestinal radiography leaked into the residual cavity of the walled-off necrosis. Tonozuka and colleagues conclude that an indwelling pigtail plastic stent provides long-term drainage, but requires precautions.
