Effect of single dose administration activated charcoal containing sorbitol on serum sodium concentration and hydration status in dogs.

Patients that are administered a single dose of ACS are at risk of developing dehydration and secondary hypernatremia as observed in the dogs during the study period. Patients receiving ACS should have electrolytes monitored and would benefit from fluid therapy as previously recommended.
