Storage of boar spermatozoa increases the demand of adenosine triphosphate for reactivation of spermatozoa towards fast, non-linear, and hyperactivation-like motility patterns upon rewarming. Maintenance of glycolysis seems to be decisive for sperm function after long-term storage in vitro.
