An H 2 O 2 -activated, endoplasmic reticulum-targeted theranostic probe was developed. This designed probe could be activated by H 2 O 2 , resulting in increased NIR fluorescence and photothermal signals, thus achieving specific recognition of H 2 O 2 and further photothermal therapy in the endoplasmic reticulum of H 2 O 2 -overexpressing cancer cells.
